Concept of the unmanned aircraft with vertical takeoff

DARPA is working on an experimental UAV X-Plane with vertical takeoff and landing,  design is divided into three stages. The contract to develop the second and third phases of the project X-Plane has received US-based Aurora Flight Sciences. Her mission is to create and imagine an 2018 demo version VTOL X-Plane (Vertical Takeoff and Landing Experimental Plane) Under the contract, developers have to produce the maximum sustainable speed of the aircraft in the -400 300 knots (700 km / h), and the ratio of the lift force to the drag (aerodynamic efficiency) from 5.6 to 10 and increase the payload of not less than 40%.
Estimated concept will use the engine to 4000 hp, which will produce 3 MW and drive the rotor 24, which are distributed over the wings and are able to unfold during entry, landing and flight.Image may be NSFW.
